Services Offered to Teachers
Differentiated Instruction

One of the primary challenges educators face in the classroom today is an extremely diverse audience and each student's varying profiles, skills, and readiness to learn. At Mission to Mentor, we provide tools and techniques to assist teachers in varying their lesson delivery in an effort to reach all students. This will include not only structured guidance and recommendations, but also handy tricks and tips to assist in varying situations.
Lesson and Unit Planning

To achieve overall success in the classroom, it is imperative that daily lesson plans are properly structured and executed in a cohesive manner to ensure educational goals are met. In developing quality plans, several factors must be considered, including academic, social, written, and linguistic requirements and demands. Mission to Mentor can assist your educators with structuring lesson and unit plans, providing recommendations, guidance and templates.
Classroom and Time Management

A planned lesson is as productive as a day allows. One familiar with schools know that each day is different, since you are working with human beings, not an inanimate object. Mission to Mentor will provide working techniques that allow educators to keep the flow of the lesson moving, make adjustments where necessary, and deal with those moments of disruption.
Test Preparation and Study Skills

Although alternative assessments and project based learning are excellent opportunities for a student to share their knowledge and application in a non-traditional manner, one must not deny that traditional testing does exist, and each school operates differently as to the quantity and how often they test their students in this manner. Mission to Mentor can show educators how to design appropriate, fruitful assessments that provide a picture of a student’s acumen and understanding whilst assisting their students in how to approach this form of assessment.
Alternative Assessments

Traditional testing has been the primary method for determining how well a student has grasped the material presented, but how can an entire semester of learning be compressed into a 30 minute or 1 hour test! Yes... traditional testing is efficient and a time-saver, but is it effective? Mission to Mentor will provide assistance in developing alternative assessments that can be used exclusively or in conjunction with traditional testing.
Report Card Narratives

Letter or number grades do not provide enough context for student achievement, making report card narratives critical. Writing meaningful and thoughtful narratives is tricky! You must convey your thoughts on the student's progress and capabilities in such a manner that is positive, productive, and verifiable. Mission to Mentor can review a sample of narratives historically used, make recommendations to strengthen delivery and provide techniques on how to convey a student's strengths, areas for improvements, and the role parents can play in their child's improvement.
Parent Conferences

The importance and relevance of parent conferences is dire for the success of all students. A school calendar allows for 2-3 formal conference dates, but communication between school and parent should remain open throughout the year. Clear, honest communication is key for a successful relationship! Mission to Mentor will demonstrate how speaking with parents, outside an email system, on a regular basis can provide positive results for student performance and expectations. We can also conduct role-playing activities to assist in delivery practice.
Self-Reflection

One is at their best when they take time to breathe and reflect. It is essential for an individual to never lose sight of the value of a positive well-being. Mission to Mentor and the educator will create a healthy regimen to embrace daily school responsibilities whilst finding the time to absorb the beauty in the day’s events, and find those ways to recharge in order to be the best YOU!
